James Earl Jones saw the show tonight with his wife and they came backstage after. I had not seen them since 1994 in Moscow where we were for the CNN/TBS (Ted Turner’s vision) Goodwill Games. He looks teriffic as does his wife. They loved the show and were full of bravos for Zach Grenier who plays Beethoven.

Fans outside the theatre. To tell you the truth, I didn’t expect there would be many fans outside the stage door…one or two, maybe. So this was quite a loving surprise and the comments—about Tulea, about my memoir (one man even quoted something I wrote that had affected him a lot), about my blog and about the play which many had seen.
Speaking of Tulea, she actually watched the show in the arms of her pet sitter sitting in the orchestra—never taking her eyes off me!!
Outside the theatre after the first preview. Fun, huh?
These gorgeous flowers came from my friend Val Kilmer who is my neighbor in New Mexico. Lucky me!!!
Patti Bosworth brought me this Xerox of a photo that Irving Penn took of my father and me in 1960 when I was about to open in my first Broadway play.
Backstage after the show with a dear friend from decades ago, Bobby Zarem, on the left; the famous and wonderful casting doyen, Bonnie Timmerman and screenwriter Scott Prendergast (“Kabluey”).
Siobhan and Shep backstage with me after the show.
Manny Millar came to the show this afternoon and came back afterwards. We both burst into tears when we saw each other. Manny was my hairstylist on “Monster-In-Law” and “Georgia Rule.” We connected in a very deep level, a life changing level. The tears we just shed were a mutual reminder of what happens when, through serendipitous circumstances life and the right person at the right time can break you open and allow healing to flood in.
Adrian Bailey from The Little Mermaid. Was at the show tonight. He’s a chorus member that was walking to his place for the top of the show back in early 2008. Around this time of year, he walked through a trap door from above the deck and fell quite a distance. He nows uses a cane to walk. He is much loved by Broadway folk.

There’s almost no room for me!
I’m glad I got to the theatre early to open all the gifts and cards. I feel so surrounded by love and protection. The production 101 company even sent gifts for Tulea (it’s also her 4th birthday tomorrow). Oooooh I am so happy. Will I ever party tonight. I’ll twitter during my breaks.
