The basic quest for meaning and fulfillment is at the core of what it means to be human, but our increasingly frenetic and complex modern life makes that quest more challenging than ever. The Legacy of Wisdom Project was launched by three of our era’s most inspiring spiritual figures—Ram Dass, Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi and Roshi Joan Halifax—to share practical tools, information and inspiration for those of us seeking to live a deeply meaningful, satisfying life. Today marks the historic inaugural gathering of this Legacy of Wisdom. It will bring together some of the most beloved spiritual and cultural elders of our time, so that we may drink from the fountain of their wisdom as they probe some of the deepest personal and social issues facing us in this difficult period of human history from contemplative, cultural and scientific perspectives.

Join this illustrious array of leaders for a unique day of visioning, sharing and learning in a highly interactive and participatory mode, as we explore such topics as how to: find and sustain one’s mission in life; build profound and lasting relationships; live healthfully; cultivate inner wisdom, psychological equilibrium, and compassion; build community; find “right livelihood”; age creatively; and face death and dying gracefully.

Sounds interesting Jane,
Events like this can be helpful for many people. Someone said:
“I will live forever, or die trying.” ,but maybe Dr. John Lilly said it best :”In the province of the mind, what is believed true is true, or becomes true within limits to be learned by experience and experiment.” Philosophy of the first human intelligence are not at all relevant to the ultimate outcome. To create or become the first new intelligence is of importance. We want to see altruistic intelligence rather than any other alternative, for we are advocating the positive morals. Our understanding of intelligences suggests,in part that such minds could be possible,but clearly they would be humane rather than our human condition.

As I am in Australia I cannot go!! How about you ask them bring it here? Sounds so fabulous. I hate that we are locking our wisdom away in old people’s homes.

Also thank you for having a blog that we can access. Wonderful. I just discovered it today when I was trying to find out when the new book is coming out.

I think this comment fits here for many reasons.

I hope you don’t mind my asking you to please take a look at a grassroots effort created to try to convince TIME Magazine to consider the military family as its 2011 Person of the Year. The effort is called “Like it for TIME.” Website: http://likeitfortime.wordpress.com

And I hope you – and your fans, readers, and everyone else – will join the letter-writing campaign on March 4th. On that day, a letter will be available at the LIFT website for all to print, sign, and mail to TIME. It explains to the magazine why they should consider the military family for PoY.

Thanks for your time. This is an easy and small thing to do for something very important – particularly after a decade of war.
