Gloria Steinem

Gloria Steinem, in her book “Revolution Within”
If we think of ourselves as circles, our goal is completion –not defeating others.
Progress lies in the direction we haven’t been.

If we think of families and nurturing groups as circles, the sum means maximizing each part—not restricting others or keeping secrets.
Progress is appreciation.

If we think of work structures as circles, excellence and cooperation are the goal –not competition.
Progress becomes mutual support and connectedness.

If we think of nature as a circle, then we are part of its reciprocity.
Progress means interdependence.

  1. From Ms.Gloria’s lips to earthlings ears.
All life is the Circle of continuum.

To win is to break the circle.
    To win someone must lose.
    Sound like Capitalism to you?

    Competition is futile.

Come on, come on lets work together…………

  2. What a wise woman she is. Very profound.

  3. What Gloria Steinem says in this quote is part of the keys to world peace. Robert Pirsif, in “Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintainence” said we need a major paradigm shift. This is it, to see life as a circle, in non-competetive “dog eat dog world” ways. And if it is is not “it” then it is part of that paradigm shift that we need and will lead to the rest if people would embrace thining of life in non-hostile ways.
Another part of the keys to world peace is respect for women, respect for children, respect for life and our world’s ecology.
    And still another part: tolerance.
Tolerance for, respect of, appreciation of “differences” in culture, race, gender, nationality, intelligence, co-ordination.
And there is something else Gloria Steinem wrote that can be called part of the keys or way to world peace:”Revolution From Within: a Book of Self Esteem”.

Now, what did Jane Fonda write that can be part of this major paradigm shift: “My Life So Far”, including the video that goes with it.

As long as women are “second class citizens” and there is pressure on women to become ever more thin, remain looking as young as possible, and submit to anyone, then even if all of humanity swore off war and “turned swords into plowshares”, the job is not done; there will not be true world peace.
Likewise with children: as long as “children should be seen and not heard” and not educated to respect life and differences and the world’s ecology, there can be no world peace even if war is literally done away with.

    Violence leads to violence.

  4. oops: that quote is from “Revolution from wihtin” haha !
But I should have also siad:
And war can never never never lead to real peace.
