I’M SICK

Aug 12.10

Just for the record, I am getting sick. We did 2 good scenes today. A lot of fun. I adore working with Bruce Beresford. But now I am home and will go to bed and pray I can sleep for 9 hours and kick this. I’ll work tomorrow regardless. Have 6:30 pick up and it’s another party scene—hey, “Grace” is a party animal—but I so hate the feeling of deep tiredness one gets when a cold has come on. Richard gave me some weird, intense potion that will probably knock this out. I wish he was here to minister to me.

    The show must go on!

Take a day or two and get better or have them write your illness into the script. LOL

    Get well Jane,
I still say that for a cold try a little myrrh gum for benefits. It saved my life a few times,Benefits of Myrrh – Total Balance.Myrrh may also have anti-inflammatory properties, lower lipoproteins and C-reactive proteins. The nutrient might also protect against drug-induced myocardial necrosis. Guggulipid . Anyways get well, Jane

    drink lots of orange juice

  8. Judi says:

    Jane,

Sorry you’re sick. Take some zinc, Vitamin C, E, A, and get more rest than you are getting.

Bruce Beresford needs to recognize that he is dealing with a beautiful and older person who should not be asked to work all day and all night making a movie.

    Love

    Judi

  9. Bill says:

Feel better, Jane! You are to be admired for your “the show must go on” attitude. I can’t wait to see this movie and thanks for all the photos and comments you’ve provided about your latest project.

    Grace is smokin’hot!

    Hi Jane,
    Hope you are feeling better.
I wanted to share with you the experience I had while filming the full moon scene.
When the band first arrived and set up by the fire pit, we all dedicated our drumming to a dear friend and beloved local musician named Betty McDonald. We asked that she be free of pain and at peace. We played for a few minutes and then headed up to wardrobe.
After two nights of filming/drumming, we drove off during that beautiful sunrise on monday morning. As we were traveling I felt Betty’s spirit fly free and I knew she had passed from this world. When I got home I learned that she left the planet at dawn. There were groups of people holding vigil all weekend by singing to her outside her home. On monday, people gathered on the village green in Woodstock and sang in her honor.
I feel that the full moon(it was actually new moon) circle was our way of honoring her life and her generous spirit.
Thank you for the opportunity to do so.
Being in the full moon scene was a fantastic experience on many levels. It was a great gift to us. Many thanks.

Hello Jane! I’m really sorry to hear that :( I really hope you get well soon! I am currently reading “My Life So Far” and am enjoying it thoroughly! Your wonderful and insightful reflections, particularly about the wonders and difficulties of being a woman, are enabling me to understand my own self much more. I thank you immensely for that! Much love and wishing you a speedy recovery, Victoria xxx

Nothing worse than getting sick when you KNOW you have to be somewhere, on time, and ready to go. I hope the stardust of sleep helps you regain your strength.

I am loving the photos of this movie!! Since I probably won’t get to see your French film any time soon, I am looking forward to this release. I have loved that curly long wig!! Trust me, I am not an old hippie, so that phase of life was never able to be a part of my life, but that looks so great on you!!

Just goes to show that is it NOT the age….

    Get well soon!!!

I will send you healing energies, if you accept them. :)

Really, nice people should not get sick at all! If I were running things, that is the way it would be. :) That is my plan and I am going to stick with it! lol

Be safe and take care of yourself. After reading your book, I can really empathize with you concerning many things. Really enjoyed reading your book! It amazes me how open people can be in print…

My husband and I are seeing William Hurt in Long Days Journey Into Night on Sunday afternoon in Portland. Can’t wait!

    Take good care.

  25. Anne Craig says:

Feel better soon! that party animal stuff, distant memory informs me, is exhausting- I imagine that’s so even when you’re acting it out without all the attendant nonsense.
Have been enjoying your blog very much. Wrote a story in the local biweekly, the Bluestone Press, about PLM and being an extra…the editor was just pleased as could be to have a whiff of such glamour…

  26. Jill C says:

  27. Rain says:

Hope you are feeling better soon. I know it doesn’t work for everyone but I am a believer in Zicam and it knocks colds fast for me if I can catch them at the start.

  28. j’espère que vous allez mieux aujourd’hui et que vous avez pu dormir pour retrouver vos énergies. Le yoga est bon pour çà et pour stimuler les défenses immunitaires.
    kisses

  29. Tom says:

    Jane,

Know how you feel. I had a small part in a MFTV movie starring Debbie Reynolds, Naomi Watts and Neil Patrick Harris some years ago (“The Christmas Wish”) where I played a guest at an office Christmas party. Had a terrible cold that day and was so pumped up on cold medication that I didn’t even remember filming most of it until I watched it on TV several months later.

    Hope you feel better soon!

  30. Cole Godfrey says:

  33. Lauren says:

    Hi Jane

Just want to send you a wish of love and wellness.

You are such an amazing woman. We all get sick from time to time, but we need you healthy and at full power to work your magic in all you do and touch.

Praying for your speedy recovery back to full Jane-power!

    xoxo

  34. Candace Pfau says:

Since going through radiation I now take Sambucus extract which is elderberry extract. It has anti-viral properties plus immune system booster’s. It got me through a week with a sick 22 mth old grandbaby. During flu season or when I really can’t afford to catch cold I take the preventive dose of two teaspoons each morning. And it tastes like blackberry juice. I call it my Mary Poppins spoonful of sugar. You should try it. Hope you are now recovered. You look tired. If it is what my grandbaby had, the cough lingers.

  • "At age 50, I broke all the career rules and left acting for 15 years. Ten of those years I was married to Ted Turner and after that I spent 5 years writing my memoirs and traveling the world on behalf of women and girls. Needless to say, returning to my profession late in life has been an interesting, exciting and unusual experience! "Monster-in-Law" was my first film after this hiatus and was one of my most fun professional experiences after "9 to 5"! During my 15 year absence, I gained confidence and, as a result, I feel that my acting is better, more nuanced and relaxed than ever."
