One reason I supported President Obama is because he said we must protect clean air, water and lands. But what good is it to say the right thing unless you act on it?
Since early August, three administration decisions — on Arctic drilling, the Keystone XL pipeline and the ozone that causes smog — have all favored dirty industry over public health and a clean environment. Like so many others, I’m beginning to wonder just where the man stands.
For months, the Environmental Protection Agency has been poised to issue new ozone rules to reduce the smog that causes asthma attacks and other respiratory ills. We badly need these new standards, which the EPA estimates could prevent 12,000 premature deaths a year.
On Friday, though, the White House put the new rules on ice. The result: these vital protections will be delayed until at least 2013 – conveniently after next year’s presidential election.

President Obama has backed down on several issues that I had hoped he would stay strong on, including issues in education. Unfortunately, though, when I look at the 2012 elections there is no one that comes close to Obama that I would want to be the President of the United States. Actually, many of those running scare me! How about Jane Fonda or Robert Redford for President!
On the artic drilling and the Keystone issues Barack Obama has not backed down from anyone- I say that because he never had any say in those two matters and used that fact to use them as false enemies, as he has done in many cases. You presume that he can but when he does not he blames whoever. You think he tried but he did not. He never had a chance but I bet he picked up many millions in campaign contributions, of which he will call the leftovers “gifts” to put in his personal bank accounts like he did after the election in which he was elected. After that election the corporations were expecting handouts of every kind because some of their money went right into Obama’s pockets, not like previous presidents that never touched the leftovers. With them paying too much for staples considered a crime by many of the opposite party- but now nobody objects to Obama putting 10s of millions in his personal accounts!
On the ozone issue I saw Obama on tv say that the ozone issue is full of quackery- his word. I do also but that is not important here.
By the way, I never registered to vote because here in Santa Barbara County in California a prejudice to any political party is required- I never had any such prejudice. That sure made me busy working with 7 sitting US Presidents plus Harry Truman. Barack Obama loves prejudice- in his favor, so I know that he and I will never work together.
