I am happy to see activity to end violence against women. But the women of India have shown us the way. They have come to realize that freedom and equality comes from the barrel of a gun. And that is being threatened here by the current gun control hysteria. Surely your visit to Vietnam showed [...]

But Linda, how many countries have we invaded since Vietnam? That includes Panama, Grenada, Nicaragua, Afghanistan, Iraq, and we paid to cause the military takeover in Chile. I will leave out Somalia, Serbia, and a few others. The point being is that we still don’t seem to get it, that murder of innocent citizens of [...]

Sorry Kim Harvey, but you got some of the Kim Phuc story wrong. Her church was never burned down, Vietnam financed her college degree in Cuba, where she met a Canadian she married and was given Canadian citizenship. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phan_Th%E1%BB%8B_Kim_Ph%C3%BAc The fact the pilot was South Vietnamese does not alter the fact he was flying a [...]

To Robert Kessler, The Vietnamese boat people were forced to leave due to the economic blockade of Vietnam by the US. The Vietnamese I know who came to the US all live naturally as communists, as all people from agrarian societies do. There is no possible comparison with the Taliban, even though we were also [...]

I realize you sacrificed more than you should have had to, and more than most, but I only wish we all could have done more to stop that terrible war. It was worth any sacrifice. And we love you even more for what you have done for all of us.

Jack, How would Jane had “profited” from a trip to Hanoi, that cost her sponsors and acting parts? She was not paid to go. There was no ticket sales. The reality is that the US lost lives, money, and international credibility by abusing a poor little country like Vietnam, that deserved independence, after fighting off [...]

By the way, I hate to admit it, but my favorite was “Barbarella”. I have seen it dozens of times.

There was some interesting symbolism hidden in the amusing story line. You don’t have to be embarrassed about it.

Brian has a good point, but the question now is how to get people to understand how you are now a spirit of the current times, and not that flash from the past anymore? This article was great, but how do you get everyone to read it? It seems to me a lot of people [...]

I think both sides from Vietnam are still looking for redemption, but can only get it from publicly giving it to each other. The only question is who would be both willing and well respected enough to be able?

We have always loved you and your movies. Perhaps it may be time to consider doing a documentary, about going back to Vietnam with some people who were prominent US civilian or military leaders at the time? It might straighten out the perspective. Westmoreland died I believe, but Kissinger is still active I think?
