Thank you so much for posting these, as an actor they are very informative as is your excellent blog. Looking foward to seeing the show.

These videos are wonderful and informative. I think “drink often and pee pale” is great advice, just in general. :)

I train speakers to think of their voices as an instrument. You might wish to warm up your voice in the shower in the morning by:
Doing lip flutters, rasperries or tongue trills to get your breath going.
Hum a song being sure to keep your jaw relaxed and your face long so that the sound resonates in your face.
Recite ‘red leather blue leather’ 3 times quickly or say
‘eleven benevelont elophants’ quickly to warm up your tongue, jaw and lips

This was really interesting, especially the part about drinking water! I don’t perform anymore (oh who am I kidding I’m only 20) but it’s fun to see the greats doing the same sorts of exercises.

    Thanks for posting!

  • "At age 50, I broke all the career rules and left acting for 15 years. Ten of those years I was married to Ted Turner and after that I spent 5 years writing my memoirs and traveling the world on behalf of women and girls. Needless to say, returning to my profession late in life has been an interesting, exciting and unusual experience! "Monster-in-Law" was my first film after this hiatus and was one of my most fun professional experiences after "9 to 5"! During my 15 year absence, I gained confidence and, as a result, I feel that my acting is better, more nuanced and relaxed than ever."
