We visited the set of the TV series “BOSS”. My son Troy plays Sam Miller and the show is wrapping up its second season in Chicago. “BOSS” in case you do not know is a television series on the STARZ network in which Kelsey Grammer plays a Chicago Mayor who is trying to hold on to power while he suffers from a terminal disease. Earlier this year the show received a Golden Globe nomination for best drama, and Kelsey won the Golden Globe for best actor in a television series. Troy’s Sam Miller is a muckraking journalist who has been promoted to editor as a way to try and silence his efforts to get the goods on the mayor played by Kelsey. Troy’s character is the thorn in the mayors side, looking for the truth.

I loved meeting the people Troy works with every day—the crew, hairdressers, makeup, costumes, continuity, director, Producer...all so nice

Here is Sam Millers office at the “Chicago Sentinel” (a fictitious Chicago Newspaper).”

Here are the kids in Sam Millers office.
I liked going in there. It gives me context for when I speak to him by phone.
We watched him film a scene from behind the “video village.”

You’ve seen video villages on my sets. Well, here’s one on my son’s set. I have to pinch myself to wake up to the reality that he is a grown man with his own career.
The really nice and gifted hairdresser on the film, Tony Mirante, was generous enough to agree to cut Malcolm’s hair and, since he had a lot of it, it took a while.
That’s Dominick and Suzi in the background. The one missing is Doogan…

Almost done!

A lot of hair!

Here is the shorn young man, looking, in my opinion, very sharp

We grabbed a table at the Purple Pig right before our Architecture tour. Delicious tapas style dishes definitely for people who like pork. Notice what their sign says.
