Film, TV & Theater 11 years, 6 months ago
I was born in 1962, and gained an early appreciation of film because my mother and father allowed me to ask questions and answered them, and they told me about the great stars and talents of the 30’s and 40’s and 50’s. My folks were older than most kids my age….and i was an only. Film became an obsession of mine…and my father and mother would take me to all sorts of films pretty early on. I would want to see just about every film that had a commercial on television. During the 70’s….Jane Fonda was one of my favorites….and we went to Klute….Julia….Coming Home…..the China Syndrome and on.
I still profess that Jane’s performance in Klute is one of the finest on film.
This may seem a silly question….but i notice often in movies what actor’s call “bits of business”. There is a scene in Klute where Jane is feeding her cat….and she nonchalantly licks the spoon after putting the food in the dish. Was this in the script or ad libbed? These little things really can bring authenticity to a performance if it is natural and not contrived. So I’d like to know about that. I guess that sounds silly, but i have always wondered!
