I’ve been in rather isolated countryside for a few years. Work is scarce, contacts with neighbors rather space. My connection with ‘people’ is mostly through the internet, by keeping myself informed with where folks are ‘at.’ I’ve recently been exposed to Jane’s “Five Acts” documentary. I think I’ve must have seen it five times now. I cry more deeply with each viewing, as the extraordinary nature of this person sinks in. Now I’m getting hit with more revelations: this site, her blog, her capacity to LISTEN to people with a different point of view. I believe this is more crucial than ever; for fascism is predicated on a deep division between conservative and liberal; that is, a division which is inflamed, exaggerated, provoked. While racism and misogyny have deep roots in our culture, (largely due to the power-structure) I firmly believe that most people in this country – including most conservatives, and even many Trump supporters – are not self-affirmed race/fascists. Rather, they have been trained to see that the great problems in our society are caused by “liberal society”; and, truth be told, there’s a great deal thats wrong with liberal society. If we can acknowledge this and listen, then I feel we have a chance of healing the division on which the two corporate Parties feed. That’s why I’m here. To listen, learn and lean on our shared wisdom.
