Jane, it’s always inspiring reading about your active life. The reason for this post is that I would like to get your take on the most recent controversy over the Oscar Nominations and lack of Diversity in Motion Pictures and the Arts. I decided to read the rules of the Academy and how one does become a member. It’s not that easy to become a member. A lot of work and years go into becoming a member. After reading it, I really believe you have to earn it. If your work is worthy of a nod or nomination, you earned it, If not than you go on. I tried to explain it to some of my close African-American friends and they now seem to understand it a little more. Since I’m a Hairdresser and did work in Hollywood, I decided to read what it takes to become a voting member in my own category. Wow, seven years just working in and on movies just for a start. Not an easy process. I just feel maybe everybody is jumping to conclusion’s to fast. Time for table talk. So give us your view and thoughts on the issue. P.S. This is my Mother who just turned 95 this month, 4 falls, a broken hip and still curses like a sailor. It’s also been a ruff year for me trying to juggle her needs with mine.
