Hello everyone – I’m new here. But I just wanted to say that I just recently ordered the original workout and started doing it again and it’s exactly what I needed to get going. In the 80s, I had both the book and the cassette tape, both of which I wore out in college. Over the years, as the fitness industry exploded, the tape disappeared and I tried other more “updated” workouts, but never with the same success. I read through the comments on this page and saw that others had a similar experience to mine. The original workout maybe “old school,” but after doing it again, I think I figured out why. For starters, it’s cheerful. The more recent “fitness trainer” dvds seem humorless and hardcore to the point where it’s like listening/watching a drill sargent. That’s no fun. Secondly, it combines true aerobics with *stretching* – every single component of this workout has some kind of stretching or yoga-based counterbalance to each exercise. This, for me anyway, was key. And lastly, it’s DOABLE. I’m starting at square one with the Beginner’s workout, which is all I need for now. But it didn’t kill me and make me want to give up – I actually finished the workout. Now, I’m also walking every day and lifting weights. But I’m so happy that this workout is on DVD now. I don’t know if it’s on itunes or Google play, but if it is, I’m gonna download the audio to take with me on the road. After all these years, I’m just glad to know I’m not the only one who thinks that this is still the best workout series. Good luck to all of you! I’ll keep you posted. 🙂
