    Dear Jane,

This website is wonderful! It is so nice to see someone of your influence make herself so approachable. I hope that your fans won’t abuse your kindness and will respect your time and privacy here.

The reason I am writing today is to introduce myself and to offer you a small gift, if you will have it.

My name is Kate. I live with my husband and three chihuahuas in Dallas, Texas where we design and hand craft unique jewelry pieces, sometimes from components salvaged before being sent to the landfill, including broken, discarded jewelry and copper wire. We also use other precious metals, genuine Swarovski crystals, natural gemstones and hand made, glass beads. I started doing this as a hobby while my husband supported me. Two years ago, my husband and I were targeted in a home invasion that ended with my husband fighting for his life against six 9mm bullets fired at close range. After his release from the hospital, he joined me in attempting to make my hobby the source of our family’s sustenance.

Although we just manage to get by, service to others is an important part of my life’s work. I am fulfilling that duty by supporting Christopher Wilno’s Man of the Year campaign for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). Christopher’s goal is to raise $250k by May 31, 2014. My husband a I are currently unable to make monetary contributions, but we do donate pieces of our work to be sold, auctioned or raffled. We keep none of the money raised from the jewelry donations, 100% goes to the campaign, “We Will Find A Cure,” which funds research into curing blood cancers and support people fighting the disease and their families.

Turner Broadcast System, Inc. is also supporting Chris’ efforts by donating four tickets to the AFI’s celebration of Ms. Fonda’s Life Achievement Award on June 5th. Bids for these tickets can be made on CharityBuzz.com at https://www.charitybuzz.com/catalog_items/530101.

I will be grateful beyond expression if Ms. Fonda will help me enhance the value of my donation by pledging to wear a one-of-a-kind (or two-of-a-kind) piece of handcrafted jewelry made in and donated by my studio during all or part of the celebration and related media coverage of the event celebrating her iconic career. After the event arrangements would be made to deliver the piece to the person who will purchase it in support of Christopher Wilno’s fundraising campaign.

The bespoke piece to be donated will be made to suit Ms. Fonda’s style and taste, custom made to coordinate with her celebration attire. As an expression of my deepest gratitude I would like to offer a made-to-match piece for Jane to keep as a gift from my family.

Please read more about “We Will Find A Cure” and Chris Wilno’s story on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/wewillfindacurells. I have intentionally left out links to my studio in order to avoid diverting attention away from the campaign, but I will send links to my shop and work upon request.

I will watch this group and my profile for response. In order to have time to design, create, promote, list and execute the sale before the funding deadline I will need a response before May 1, 2014.

Thank you so much for kind consideration of my humble request.

    Kindest regards,
    Kate
