Hi, here is Kailashananda, I am a Hindu monk living in Germany. Although I am already 54, I just discovered some days ago Jane’s activism and I felt deeply touched by her words and by her determination in standing for something she deeply believes in. I have a deep respect for celebrities like Jane who make their popularity available to humanity to support a righteous cause. People who step out of their comfort zone and, if necessary, put themselves at risk, acting in a selfless way for the welfare of the world, without expectations of rewards of any kind: this is the authentic spirit of service. People on this planet always follow the example of eminent persons. I consider older people also eminent persons, because they have life experience and because they (should) know that we can no longer continue abusing and destroying Mother Earth as we have been doing so far. I’m trying to encourage older people to step in, to change their life, to change their mentality. Many older people have allowed media to contaminate their minds with so much negativity, with so much fear, day in day out. Media spread massively negative news, constantly. How to stop this? Stop watching news. 10 years ago I was almost addicted to news: I could not miss one day without reading newspapers. Since I became monk 5 years ago I have disciplined myself stay away from news. Sometimes I manage to do it, sometimes not. But when I manage to succeed to stay away for a few months, then I feel much more positive. So, how to keep the contact with what’s going on in the world? By keeping touch with communities like this one and with other like-minded people. From my side, I serve in the main Ashram of a community called Bhakti Marga, which means: the path of devotion. Devotion to the all mighty God, to the One who has created all of us human beings, animals, plants, all these universes and this planet Earth, on which Souls come to perfect themselves, to love and have compassion for each another, to accept others as they are and to live and to strenghten their eternal relationship with the Creator. Part of our mission is to spread God’s Name in the world. Repeating God’s Name and remembering Him at all times is the most purifying and transforming experience in this dark age. We spread vegetarism and many of our community members plant themselves trees, as advised by our Master Paramahamsa Vishwananda. It’s inspiring to see people like Jane who believe strongly in what they are doing, forgetting about themselves, forgetting about their needs, forgetting about their name, fame, time, career and what other people think about them. Not deviating one bit from their convictions. These are role models for society. I love you, Jane.
