Hi Jane,
My name is Deborah, I have been a fan for years, far too many favorite films to mention, suffice to say ‘On Golden Pond’ always makes me both smile and cry…I had the good fortune to meet an acquaintance of yours recently..Mr David Hurn (I am studying Photojournalism) and he gave a talk at our University, I had a nice chat with him.
I am on Twitter @coxy944.
Best wishes

The river runs through your property? That’s fantastic! Love that you have such wonderful outdoor space that includes a veggie garden. Seeing this is a reminder for me to work harder so I can someday soon own a home with land! Thanks for the view and renewed resolve! Have a great week!
Debbie
I love your ranch – if I had that ranch, I’d never leave. I’m from Atlanta but there’s nothing like the west and your ranch is beautiful.
So glad you are in love, having fun, doing meaningful work and zestfully living life (and sharing). You are admired! And Warren Beatty looks great 🙂

Who needs L.A. with a ranch like that. I would run away from the public ever chance I had.. great doors on your grand kids craft room. take care..Hugs to Tulea

I’ll be moving to Santa Fe in the next few months… retiring… been working all my life it seems.
Leaving Texas… need a change in scenery… need to be in God’s country…
thank you from a 61 year old black woman who just loves those pictures… so refreshing.
KMae
Thanks Ms Jane, how wonderful!
Always loved ya!

Your ranch is beautiful. I have friends in New mexico…When I was young I used to be your twin, It was so much fun when people would stop me and ask me if I were you, or ask me to sign something. I had had the same hair cut, and we did look alike. I’m 63 now. I wish I looked like you now, You are so beautiful…Take care Jane.

Holy mackeral it’s GREEN! You are either in a low spot that gets a lot of moisture or possibly you irrigate? Anyway, lovely area.
As an aside, your personal landscapes are very diverse (NY for the play, Atlanta for home/work, NM for retreat, LA to work). Interesting geographic/demographic equation to help you find a balance!
Michele
What a remarkably peaceful place you have. We have 4 peaceful acres here off the road and love the quiet we get.
Michelle
The playground is so great. It looks like it’s made with untreated wood…..so green!
So since you don’t live there all year round, are there other people who live there to keep it up and running? How does that work?
Michelle:-)
millie
LOVE the ‘old west’ and rustic ‘feel’ of the playground your daughter designed; it all looks so natural and fun in the high mountain country’s lush greenery…wondering about the origin of doors to the outdoor craft room?!
Thanks for sharing.
Kelsey
Oh my God, that playground is so creative! And AWESOME!!! What a great job!
Jason
Hi Jane,
The pictures are beautiful. You have a great place. I’ve never really thought of New Mexico as holiday destination before (seeing as in Europe we don’t see many pictures of the place) but it looks wonderful and maybe next year I’ll try and spend a few days there. And it looks pretty quiet, which is definitely a plus! I remember you saying it’s up high, though. Even though I’m pretty stable health wise, the altitude gets to me. Headaches and I can’t breathe etc.
Anyway, glad you’re visiting Germany in November. I just googled it and it’s the Ute Ohoven event you’re probably going to. She’s a big charity lady over here. Does a lot of good work. Now your flight to D’dorf is a flight I’d LOVE to work on! 🙂 but you probably fly Delta or United anyway. Shame.
Anyway, enjoy your writing, your home, the peace and quiet. You really are blessed.
Best regards from Germany
Jason

Wow Jane,
What great photos! The grasses are so beautiful and each one looks like a friend with a cool hairdo. I think you should give each one a name.
Each looks like its waiting outside your door to great you each day.
What type of plant outside the craft pagota? It looks like bay leaves. They don’t grow in New England so I’m amazed to see how beautiful.
Do you have the beautiful sage planets that I love to burn for good energy? We don’t have that sage here. Its a whitish grey leave and very soft feeling. Like to see if I could grow some indoors.
Vanessa what inviting and beautiful play areas
and Jane your place is a jewel to treasure.
Who would not enjoy hanging their hat there?
all the best,
earthkeeper
Rebecca
Oh, to be a kid again and explore that wonderful playground and the ranch (especially love the spider web design). You are so generous to share your life with us, and since I am of your generation it is so lovely to see so many people I have admired through the years looking so well and happy in your photos. We’ve all come a long way! 🙂
Patty
The pictures are awesome! I have been wondering since you have more than one home, do you really miss Atlanta?
Nancy
Hi Jane
I love all of the grass’s on your ranch. The whole ranch looks like a ‘play ground’. Thanks for sharing
Nancy
Kathy
gorgeous – I especially love your vegtable garden!
Anniedup
No wonder you love it so ! Absolutely beautiful !
Brandon
Do you work on that garden yourself, Jane?
Karen
Cool playground. I work with kids and they would love that! Beautiful shots, love the river/creek there. I love the country, I understand how you could use some peace and quiet now. Hope the public and press didn’t give you too hard a time.
Keep the faith.

Jane,
Well last night I got to missing New Mexican magic while watching the good biopic about Georgia O’ Keeffe with the amazing Jeremy Irons and Joan Allen.
Now with your pictures, the beautiful sky in San Francisco today seems, well…dull somehow. I’ll just have to watch Off the Map, which I highly recommend and ironically stars Joan Allen as well.
I keep telling Mr. Andrews to watch it since he’ll
“get it” after his recent visit.
I hope the writing is going well.
Best Regards and ongoing respect to you,
Matthew
PS. I found the photographer who took the shots of you and Harvey! I’ll be seeing Sally Gearhart in a few weeks in Petaluma, another hero of mine. I wonder if she’ll have recollections about that evening and your participation?
Matthew DeCoster
Hey it just occurred to me that Sally may be an interesting person to include in your latest writing. She is such an amazing person, just like you.
Again, all the best-

Pictures of your ranch are my favorite of all the pictures you have shared…..the river, the grasses, your garden, the view of the mountain and trees from your bedroom….all so lovely and serene! Thank you for sharing! I can almost hear the water moving over the rocks!
What fun to see the grandchildren’s playground! It makes me want to climb the equipment myself! 🙂 Vanessa did an excellent job designing it!! It’s interesting to think of Greer Garson enjoying that ranch too! So glad someone like you owns it now who can appreciate the surrounding beauty there and also have a “animal friendly” environment for the wildlife!! 🙂

I love the doors to the outdoor craft room

Absolutely magnificent! Your love of the land and your space shows with an eloquence beyond words. Living in Arizona’s White Mountains, we’ve similar scenery, and I’m busy “non-designing” our 40 acres. It IS difficult to terraform while keeping the natural beauty that attracted you in the first place!
But I do have one question … how are you finding the container growing of the tomatoes? I’d only done the usual sort (with astonishing results, both in Phoenix and in Overgaard, AZ.), but tried the container approach this year because we’re now near Concho (freak hail-storms, etc.) without much success. Is there a secret, or do I give in and get the tractor we’ve budgeted in?
Nirmala Heriza
This was inspired by you in the early 70’s. It’s the first song you inspired in me. Around the same time I met my Guru.
She moves along the water like a dancer on the breeze. She moves with such ease.
But when she lets her hair down.
Thunder fills the sky
Like the night
See how she rises
She how she flows
Like a river
Watch her go
See how she rises
She how she flies
Like an eagle
Watch her rise
She knows just where she’s goin’
It’s written in the wind
She knows what she wants to be
And when it comes to loving
She seems to understand
Her face is like a thousand shining seas.
She how she rises
She how flows
Like a river
Watch her go
She how she rises
See how she flies
Like an eagle.
Watch her rise.
With love
Nirmala

I absolutely love the Playground. It’s wonderful.
And the herb garden is great. I have one myself, of which I’m rather proud because I’ve managed to grow this huge Rosemary plant that has, so far, survived many NY winters, which they tell me is unusual.
You have a lovely property, with the river running though it and it looks very peaceful. Truly lovely

My partner and I visited NM this summer – the first time for me. We spent ten days in the Taos/Santa Fe area, and I loved it. It’s good to be able to remember our trip through your pictures, too.

You mean to say ‘evolving movie stars’, don’t you?! Gorgeous photos, thank you for sharing these. Love the western, rustic look. I trust your garden is organically grown, no pesticides or herbicides or GMOs…

Great pictures, Jane. I love the ranch. Looks like a peaceful place. Norma Jean

Hi Jane,
I’ve just noticed that you’ve added another picture to your album on your website. Photo number 3 where you’re sitting on Richard’s lap is such a wonderful picture. You look so happy and relaxed. The photo really cheered me up. 🙂
All the best

Love yoru picutres and to read your blogs. You are truly an inspiration to all women – how you can lead an active, loving, interesting life as you get older and wiser. I am just an average working class woman now in her 50’s and it does scare me a bit too become older. I do not have the financial resources that you have so it is a little bit scary in how society views me as an older woman. Please tell me that there is hope and to hang in there and it will all too out as planned.
Jason
Hi Jane,
Just read this article in the Times from the UK entitled ‘I’ve seen the future . . . and it’s working women who will save the world’
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/comment/columnists/guest_contributors/article6840408.ece
Thought you might like it.

Thanks for the photos of your ranch. I used to live above Pecos on Cow Creek on ten acres. I love the fall in the mountains there. Your pictures make me homesick for my old place. Say hello to Anna Belle at Adelo’s for me sometime. Peter
Janet
Hi Jane, thanks for sharing your surroundings. It’s a piece of heaven there. You’ve worked hard for decades to be able to enjoy such a tranquil, natural place. I love the spider web rope in the playground and can practically hear the river rushing by from those pictures.
Peace to you. Enjoy.

As I looked at your photos, I not could help being impressed by the beauty and tranquility of your life. Only rich people can live as you apparently do. You have no idea what life is like when your world can suddenly be turned inside out. What makes you an authority on the Middle East? People in Israel never have the pleasure of absolute tranquility. Arabs shell in the north and now in the south. They hit buildings where families live. That is their intention. Women live with the fact that their male relatives must serve in the military in order to protect the country and their families until they are into their fifties. All around are families that have lost sons, fathers, cousins in battle. The country is full of people who have been permanently maimed as a result of attacks on civilian populations. I find it difficult not to remember children who have lost limbs in attacks. And all this has gone on for over 100 years, when there was no state, and no army.
When Jews could not defend ourselves, no one gave a damn, and they died at the hands of centuries of Europeans. Now that we can defend ourselves, Israel is assigned the role of rogue, villain etc.
Why don’t you stay in your garden. Half of what you think you know about the ME is the result of very effective Arab propaganda. Israel has the right to dispense what you call “propaganda” of its own. If participating in a film festival is equivalent to propaganda.
I was living in Israel when you were visiting in Hanoi. That was not heroic. You could have expressed your opposition from the US.
You are just a movie actress. I have dual IS/Israeli citizenship, and have been a Jew for 67 years. No one is coming to hear my opinion. You are a very self righteous woman.

Well I didn’t make it up to see Sally in Petaluma
today. She is speaking about Briggs.
I have her phone number if you’d like it.
Off to see Marianne Faithfull and Emmylou Harris in Golden Gate Park. All these amazing women!
Best Regards,
Matthew
PS. I really think Sally would be worth talking to.
Roberta
Jane, I’m anxiously awaiting your next post. New to your blog, but loving it, after having walked to your audio tapes, exercised to your VHR tapes, seen your movies, read your book and kept up with you over the last 30+ years. I want to say more, but I’ll leave that for next time.
Glenda
Jane,
Your property is beautiful.
My sister lives in Albuquerque and I love to visit her. The vistas are amazing. We have a friend that owns a B & B in Cloudcroft and I love it there, it’s like visiting Tahoe. I really wish I could live there.
Best of Health to you.
