OSCAR PARTY

The week before the Academy Awards is chock-a-block full of parties. And I have been to a few. Last night it was at the Chateau Marmont—again. Not my kind of party—too crowded, too smoky, too many people I didn’t know. But a few I did: My son Troy and my daughter-in-law Simone (no pix of them, though), Laura Bickford, Peggy Siegal, Bob Shaye, John Rubin. Here are a few photos.

Film producer, Laura Bickford and Peggy Siegal. Oh yes, I dyed my hair brown yesterday, Whaddaya think, huh?

With Loree Rodkin, We're showing off our rings which, coincidently, we both like to wear on our middle fingers. She designed her own and they are amazing.

Peggy Siegal, me, Richard and photographer, Patrick McMullan

See you next time.

  2. Hey Jane
Love the Rings on the Middle Finger kinda my sentiment for teaching a few morons Not to mess with Xtreme Renegade Women like ME

  3. Jane, how exciting and how fun! You look just as beautiful as always. Enjoy.

  4. You look Gorgeous, Jane, always, and I love you with your darker hair. I am dying to know who did your cut. Was it another masterpiece by Sally Hershberger?

  5. You were blonde for such a long time! I think you look even more like your dad with brown hair, don’t you?

  6. Looks like fun, hair looks great!

  7. Jane-
You are beautiful and inspiring to us all.

  10. Jane brown is thumbs down…that was never you. love you any way
    it’s just a bottle away.

  11. I like the hair color, is warm and very flattering.

  12. Believe the lighter hair color is more becoming and youthful-looking! Wonder if highlights in the brown would work. Color now is too solid. xx

  13. Again it is nice seeing your write up in blog. This way communication gets live with the readers of your blog.I read your blog in order to update myself about your activities.Wish you nice time.

  14. You`re a Beauty – ever!
But blond you are much exiting.
    Love Nicki/Germany

  15. When the mail comes I realize it is time to lay down and pretend to sleep again! heh heh Thanks!
    Have fun this weekend!

  16. Hi,Jane!

Since you’re expert on the Oscars (you won twice if I’m not mistaken), can you tell us some of your favorites this year? It’s been a good year for the movies.

    Regards from Croatia

  17. Jane,I love your new hair color, very Klute.

  18. Love you in all your incarnations, but I think I’d give a slight edge to the blond hair. But the new cut and the “freshening” you’ve done has all worked, big time!

Now – let’s get you to Oscar events as a nominee!!

  19. Don’t much care for the hair color – too harsh – looks like you’re trying too hard – like those rusty haired tv guys. You were gorgeous and fabulous looking before you started “re-making” yourself. You’re great just the way you are – quit fidgeting with yourself. Don’t become another plastic “fading star” trying desperately to “hold on”…That’s not you. You’re vital and busy and in demand. Please don’t squander your elegance, class and dignity.

  20. dear Jane
    I wanted to ask you
if you’ve had difficulties to be an actress, and whether you’ve had moments where you thought that you do not give advice if you went this easy? greetings from Polish

  21. Like “the work” and “the cut”, but you looked more natural with the blonde highlights. Seems you’re feeling “the LA scene” pressure – maybe some fly-fishing at your ranch for a couple of weeks would be good. You’re beautiful on the outside, but it’s the “inner you” that I (we) find most interesting, inspiring and beautiful!

  22. Oooh, love the hair!x

  23. See you next time on another planet.
I’ve respected your father for such a long time.
But, “Fail-Safe” would not work sometimes, sadly.

    -YM

  24. Love you, Jane, but not crazy about the brown hair. I think it looked much better the way it was before. 🙂

  25. Envied the facelift because I could never afford one or stand the pain! Love the highlighted hair color, not a fan of brown. Have been a blond most of my life and now the transition to gray/blood at 66 looks fine to me.

What a big life! Your are a very fortunate woman!

  26. But I bet you were the only double best actress winner at the party!

I’m curious given your Hollywood of late posts. Where do you stay when in Hollywood and are you there specifically because of Oscar week, and what I would imagine are many great parties held in the week or so leading up to the Oscars?

I’m heading off to LA myself in April to attend the TCM Film Festival with Robert Osborne – loved the interview he did with you a little while ago by the way! You have inspired me to really go all out and have some good ole fashioned Hollywood fun – booked dinners at Chateau Marmont & The Polo Lounge during my stay.

  27. Hi Jane – I’m so glad I found your blog – I didn’t know you could also write! (I think your family got a few of the talent genes that were meant for mine)! 🙂 I’ve included you in my Academy Award style blog and thought you might like to see it! http://snipurl.com/ulxxy I’ve always loved your style!

  28. Was just visiting Marlee Matlin and I had some interaction with her , on some educational media stuff, interesting . I looked up the Oscar award video on YouToube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2y4K_Xc7-JU&feature=related , I see that year you were up for that award yourself. I think that everyone was so wonderful for her, she a good kid, andy your were great , I tkink that it was a good thing she got that Oscar , was a good statement. good year that year for the Oscar, you were great also. What did you think? about that Jane, everyone seemed very big about it. I have to say I did have a tear in my eye after view that video

  29. Jane –

You are too cool and I love your blog…I will be honest with you – I think you are completely gorgeous too, but I very much like you better with highlights in your hair…the dark brown is a bit dowdy on you…just my two cents-you did ask us on your update 🙂

Go back to your highlights – you have beautiful hair.

Also, you would still be gorgeous no matter what you did to your hair!

    Cheers,

    DG

  30. anyway you look very cool, even if it’s too crowdy and too smoky there !! so i keep on reading your blog, and keep on enjoying life , as you have a real gift for life!frederique dhenein

  31. Believe the lighter hair color is more becoming and youthful-looking! Wonder if highlights in the brown would work. Color now is too solid.

  32. Can’t stand to watch old movies even–where they billow smoke in them. Did not enjoy visiting Macao recently either as could not find a non-smoking restaurant there…Macao is now kind of like a spread out Las Vegas…I don’t do gambling anymore either as is nerve racking and smoky too!…I preferred our BPF Buddhist event today, which was Change Your Mind Day, 2010. It had very good presentations/discussions…will send you the High Def DVD I shot…am working on it now. A lot of Buddhists, as some said today, are former smokers, chain smokers, as that is a form of being anxious and I think is a fixation for anxious behavior, a way of giving control over your own feelings and moods to an external device….Buddhists also generally see eating as another such crutch, as Alan Watts once put it: “getting stuffed,” as opposed to eating for nutrition and health…and eating animals, especially cows, brings out the worst of the primordial carnivore in us…Anything can become an external crutch and so an addiction, and obviously some, especially cigarettes and alcohol are so self-destructive, going together usually. Parties are not something I do at all…It is probably boring for you having to do that routine constantly…party after party after party…and the party mindset is so artificial, isn’t it? I preferred the G-CAPP conferences, the three I went to, friends with a social purpose! Hope your upcoming event in Atlanta goes well.

    • Jane,
Yikes, I thought your friends were going to tell you when you went “too far”.

Okay, you have gone too far with the hair color, and you did ask.

      STOP…..You are not 40, 50 or even 60….

There is no problem with wanting to look rested or refreshed…..but you are admired for resisting for a LONG time the “L.A. LOOK”.

Let’s face it, women of a certain age don’t look younger with all the “work”….they start looking desperate and looking like women that have had “work”….not younger, just older with “work”.

I feel compassion and empathy with you, Jane.

We live in such a “young” worshiping society.

But if women such as yourself, can just manage to age with dignity, grace and some semblance of acceptance of the aging process what a gift that would be to women of ALL ages.

And I’m not talking about “giving up” and waiting to die, I’m talking about remaining active, intellectually and physically, but about leaning into aging with honesty.

  33. Returned from a social event today and read Lacey’s Reply to you. Agree with everything she wrote! Have always felt that way about parties and smoke-filled rooms!

  34. Gee, I’m in the minority I guess — I like the brown, think it plays up the blue eyes, and looks young. But you should do what YOU (and Richard : ) like. And ask your daughter, as they ALWAYS have honest input!!

Have fun with the rest of the Oscar parties!

  35. Oscar parties, are you by any chance presenting this year? I know last year they had five winners from the past present to the current winner. And, from what I read about this years stars, it would be fab to see you present!

  36. u look so fake now. U look like Mary Tylor Moore’s sister

  37. Hi Jane, not that my plucked nickel opinion will make a hair of difference, but I think your hair looks great.

I also hate smoky and crowded places, would much rather be on the beach.

I can not believe that I found your web site, love looking at your pics. Very interesting and colorful.

Hope your week will be great.
    Colin.

  38. Congrats to Jeff, Fantastic Job. Love you Jane. Leonard Quintana

  39. hooray! Yay Barbra!!!

  40. Jane, who talked you into the “helmet head” brown coloring? Not a good look. Love the blog, keep up the good work!

  41. Oh my, you look positively gorgeous. I love the new hair colour and while everyone else seems to also like the blond, I think this is sophisticated and glamorous.

I also want to say that as a middleaged woman, I salute you for coming out with the fact you had a little work done recently. Shame you cannot name doctors on here as I might make the trip. Because it looks so natural! We need to hear more voices of older successful beautiful women inspiring the rest of us. You look, as my kids would say, hot! I have a blog also and will send my readers your way too. We ladies need encouragement from each other. Better still if you are ever game to come by for a visit and leave a comment, you would hear my screams from Australia.

  42. You look terrific any way you choose. You know exactly how to take care of yourself healthwise AND stylewise.

Just my two cents worth here 🙂

  43. Love you with blond hair. Brown too harsh. I am a big fan of yours since I was a teenager. I am 56yrs old now. Best wishes to you Jane.

  44. You look good Jane! Been a fan forever and I don’t think you could ever screw up your looks! You always look mahvalus!! (but I do think I like the blond better)

  45. These are great pictures! I think this hair style is very flattering on you, Jane! I love it! The color of one’s hair is such a personal choice, but….since you asked our opinion…. I must say that blond highlights or a blond shade for your hair color would be more flattering to you….”softer” around your face! I think you’re just having fun experimenting with your hair now! Enjoy!:)

  46. Still loving the hair…You know what’s best for you. YAY..Jeff Bridges..Love you anyway you are Jane, but Bravo, you are the coolest ever. Yeah EVER…

  47. You have a terrific website for sure. Love your blog, pictures and tweets. I’ve always liked your acting as well. You should do more movies – your fans miss you. I like your brunette look but all your fans know you as a blonde but hey, change is good once in awhile. It’s funny how you and Jackie Collins keep tweeting each other and kid around. Keep that up haha.

  48. I like your hair with blonde highlights better than all one lowlight color. (You asked!!)

  49. Jane –

You’re always stunning in any shade of color. I think the blond high-lights accent your eyes and bring them to life more. You look fresh and hip with those in…..if you want the studious look, then brown is the color. But as you can see by the comments….we have grown fond of those brilliant eyes that shimmer into our souls……so we can get kind of passionate about the hair thing! 🙂

Bottom line…….it’s your life……do what you want. We love you for your heart and soul……way more than for your veneer!

Great to see you happy and enjoying life. All the best to you and yours.

    Gina

  50. Hair looks terrific in brown! You go girl!
