CHICAGO – MY KIND OF TOWN Part 2

we saw this guy first

We hadn’t planned to, but we were so close that we had to do a quick walk through the Lincoln Park Zoo. Let me point out that this zoo is free and open to the public. Troy and Simone have actually visited the zoo at Christmas time where they decorate the zoo with lights and have it open at night.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

whoa!

This almost looks like a painting

I took this cause I want you to appreciate her fashion sense. No kidding, she’s got style.

That evening we had a nice family dinner at Nomi the restaurant at the Park Hyatt. Delicious! Delicious! Delicious!

Can you believe the line?

They must be as great as everyone says

Our final afternoon, before going to the airport, we drove to get a gourmet hot dog at the famous Hot Doug’s. I had never seen people lined around the block for a hot dog and it was a hot day. There was an ambulance on the corner cause several people had fainted while waiting. The owner came out offering water and hosed down those who wanted relief. The wait was over an hour or longer and sadly we didn’t have the time, so we grabbed a quick bite at a nearby diner before heading to I Cream, which the kids remembered hearing about from our guides at the Museum of Science and Industry. I Cream uses liquid Nitrogen to make ice cream just like we did in our museum experiment and it didn’t disappoint.

the smoke and mixing bowls look familiar

And with that, our 5-day visit to Chicago came to an end. We all had a blast and my feet hurt from so much walking but thanks to Troy and Simone for making it so memorable. The best trips are the ones that leave you yearning for more, and that was definitely the case with Chicago. We did get a week of perfect summer weather, and our guides handled us with extra care, but I felt that everywhere we went we welcomed with respect and pride by people who really love their city. Thanks to all that made our trip so memorable. So much more Chicago to explore. See you next time.
