I just turned 30 September, so I don’t know too much about Jane Fonda growing up. Not the movie star Jane, not the activist Jane, not the daughter of the 12 angry men movie star Jane. And yet her character in the Newsroom is so fascinating every time she’s there she effortlessly steals the show. You never expect yourself to be so interested in a female actress who is your grandma’s age, but after I watched grace and Frankie I searched Jane Fonda on audiobook and there she is.Its like I knew she would read it herself. I’m now at the chapter she won her first Oscar, how she asked her dad for advice and what she wore. I then watch the moment she was describing in the book on youtube.Its like time travelling. Knowing how much she suffered growing up and how much she sacrificed for the cause she believes in, I watch the clips on Leona Lansing again, I can’t help falling into tears. She survived and thrived with such grace and humour and caring along the way. She is a treasure to women or men, never mind the gender I think. I love her so much and wish her a very happy birthday.
